Metaverse-Based Learning Opportunities and Challenges: A Phenomenological Metaverse Human–Computer Interaction Study

The Metaverse is an end-users-oriented integration of various layers Information Technology (IT), where Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) would be the core technology. With rapid development IT, allow users to connect, work, conduct business, and access educational resources, all in a technology-mediated environment new interaction ways. can play major role future online learning enable rich active environment, learners have opportunity obtain first-hand experiences that might not accessible physical world. While currently there severe shortage Metaverse-Learning studies, such research strands are expected soon emerge. main objective this paper investigate challenges opportunities for human-centric technology sector, hence accelerating field. A phenomenological method was used, including semi-structured in-depth interviews, essays written by participants, focus group discussion with 19 experts areas HCI, intelligent interactive technologies, learning. individual interviews took place May 2022, meeting held June 2022 formulate collective opinion experts. Five were identified context: immersive design, privacy security, universal access, psychological health concerns, governance. provided suggestions overcome those challenges, three Meta-Learning identified: hands-on training learning, game-based collaboration creating knowledge. findings contribute understanding complexity from point view. These used further as virtual communication potential business platform.
